For models with very small details a alternative to modeling is normal maps from texture. So don't waste your time modeling them but paint a texture and apply a normal map with that texture to the object surface.
Below image show how a texture can be apply on the lamp base as a normal map. Notice that the amount of details will be almost impossible to be modeled.
To create the texture you can use Gimp, Photoshop or whatever you want. For a simple texture like this i use nothing else than Paint. Save the texture as jpg or png.
In Blender, map your texture on the model using whatever mapping method is convenient, I use Orco and Tube for my model, and in Map To panel use only Nor button for normal rendering. The last setting is Nor slider button to give the appropriate normal value affected by the texture.

Note that in Blender can be used ten texture channels and you can heave more than one normal texture map, and also you can mix a channel texture map with another channel color texture.
For complete details how to map a image texture see Blender Documentation.
