GIMP - jpg quality

How we can save for web?

Most of us works with jpg file, are the best in terms of size/quality and all the cameras save the file in this format. My camera is set to save fine jpg and that translate in 98 quality in Gimp.

If I keep all original setting when I save the image bellow is 128K.

How we can reduce the file size? The image below have the quality set to 85 [and few other settings]:

Did you notice any differences because I don't. there are some differences but usually our eyes did not detect them. Other setting the latest image was save with are:

  • did not have EXIF data saved
  • disable Save thumbnail
  • and disable XMP data

The 85 quality is the lowest I recommend to have an small enough and good enough image.
